Maple Valley is a town, nestled along Highway-169 and Highway-18. This “small town” holds numerous natural treasures, for visitors and locals to enjoy! One of those treasures, is Lake Wilderness and the lake’s adjoining park: Lake Wilderness Park.
Lake Wilderness Park consists of 117 acres of prime shoreline, protected forestland, and lush meadows. After obtaining the land in 2003, the City of Maple Valley set out to make Lake Wilderness Park a place for everyone to enjoy.
This shore-side park, has plenty of play for everyone, including a children’s play equipment, two outdoor tennis courts, a softball field, miles of walking/running/biking paths, and summer swimming opportunities. Alongside family fun, there are picnic tables and barbeques (perfect for a summer day!), and three picnic shelters for overcast and less-than-ideal days.
Fishing and boat launching is also available at Lake Wilderness Park, onto Lake Wilderness. Fishing is permitted from dawn to dusk, and the “boat launch will be make available” starting at 6:00am each morning. Permit are required, so make sure to check out the Washington State Fish & Wildlife website for restrictions and regulations.
In the middle of planning a party? Check out the Lake Wilderness Park picnic site and boat rentals. Their website has all the information and required forms.
