Established in 1864, Burien, Washington remains a small, suburban city with Seattle to the north, Tukwila to the east, and Des Moines to the south. Since 1980, the population has increased from 23K to 51K, much of that increase experienced between 2010-2016.
Although its population increased so drastically, Burien remains a small-town at heart and Olde Burien is a testament to that. As a reference, “Olde” Burien is the area surrounding SW 152nd Street and runs through downtown, where unique shops and eateries reflect the “eclectic mix of interests” of the locals. Like many areas, Burien has a bunch of restaurants to choose from, each with their own distinct flavor palette.
One popular cuisine is sushi and one local favorite is Oishi Sushi. Each dish is served with care and delicate precision. With their wide selection, even those not akin to sushi can find something to eat in their menu. Other options include soup, salad, noodles, rice bowls, and bento.
Your “friendly neighborhood brewpub, “Elliott Bay Brewing has a location along the main drag in Burien, where they serve their organic, handcrafted ales and community. Family owned, Elliott Bay opened in July of 1997 and has since been a “leader in sustainability [and] philanthropic support.”
If you fancy Italian, try Frankie’s B-Town Bistro. An expansive dinner menu and nightly specials include only the freshest, seasonal and local ingredients, with many ingredients hand-picked from Seattle’s Pike Place Market. With a goal with family and friends in mind, their connected, community atmosphere brings Italian heritage to Burien tradition.
Built on familiar love and a passion for hospitality, The Greek House melds the simple principles they the owners learned from Athens, Greece – where their family owned three restaurants prior to them moving to Burien. Classic Greek food in the heart of Burien, including gyros, plates, and scrumptious desserts.
Originally located in West Seattle, the original owners decided to expand into Burien where Bison Creek Pizza resides today – and although renovations have changed the building, their original recipes remain the same. Classic pepperoni or go crazy with a Carolina Reaper pizza – either way, you’ll enjoy the fluffy, hand-tossed crust and homemade sauces!
The Bite Sandwich Company is great for lunch and with updated Spring hours, you’ll enjoy their food longer! Enjoy made-to-order sandwiches and salads, with freshness as their key ingredient. They bake/roast their chicken breast, turkey breast, bacon, roast beef, and corned beef in-hour so they can deliver on their promise for quality goods.
Since 1998, The Australian Pie Company has served delectable, gourmet meat pies and other Aussie pastries to its patrons. Baked in their signature Puff Pastry – containing no trans fats or cholesterol – and awesome Aussie assessorial products, including Vegemite and Arnotts biscuits.
