The Evergreen State Fair

Yesterday kicked off the first day of the Evergreen State Fair! Beginning in 1949, the 193-acre Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe has been home to the Evergreen State Fair. Attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, this state fair will have you coming back for more!

It is not a fair without the fun carnival rides! For $35, you can purchase an Unlimited Ride Wristband. You also have the option to purchase a sheet of 27 for $25, a sheet of 80 for $70 or a sheet of 120 for $100. You can also purchase an individual ticket for $1 but know that rides require 3-5 single tickets! A few of the Spectacular Rides this year include the Super Shot Drop Tower, the Shake Up, Zillerator Coaster, Thunderbolt and the Giant Wheel. There is also a wide variety of family rides, kid rides and classic carnival rides including the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Scrambler! If you prefer to know what you are getting into beforehand, you can view the complete list of rides and descriptions.

Each year you can expect to see great artists perform at The Evergreen State Fair. On Tuesday, August 28th the top 7 contestants from the most recent season will perform live with Kris Allen, a former American Idol winner. If country music is up your alley, you may want to plan to watch Randy Houser and Michael Ray perform on Thursday, August 30th. New this year, Grandstand Festival Seating for all concerts is buy one, get one free and includes fair gate admission. That is a pair of concert tickets and a pair of fair gate admissions for the price of a single concert ticket. What a deal! View a list of all performers and purchase your tickets online, today!

It’s time to cowboy up! There will be three days of barrel racing, calf roping, and bull riding! The Rodeos will begin at 7:00pm on Friday, August 31st, Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd. Don’t miss the excitement and be sure to purchase your tickets.

Though we have covered the bulk of the fair, there is still so much left to do and see! There is a wide variety of contests, geared for all ages and skill levels. While taking a break from rides, you may enjoy browsing through the Makers Market. The Makers Market showcases local products from local individuals. You will find a wide variety of original and handmade items for sale. It is also not a fair without a petting zoo! You can find llamas, Bennett Wallabies, Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs, Bantam Chickens and so many more exotic and domestic animals.

With the fair running until September 3rd, plan your visit today!
