The Cougar Mountain Zoo has a long-standing tradition of education and support. Located roughly 15 miles East of Seattle, they’re nestled in the off I-90 in the Montreux community and accessible via Newport Way NW to the East and SE 60th Street to the West.
Dedicated to promoting animals unable to advocate for themselves, they believe in the “universal power of education” and encourage visitors to embrace our vanishing wildlife. Through personalized attention and hospitality, the Cougar Mountain Zoo has built its reputation to contend with larger, local zoos.
Zoos are a great place for us to explore the world outside our own and learn about things and cultures we might not otherwise have the opportunity to explore.
The Cougar Mountain Zoo is separated into “worlds”, which include the World of Cougars, World of Lemurs, World of Cranes, World of Reindeer, World of Macaws, World of Wallabies, World of Ratites, World of Camelids, World of Tigers, and the World of Wolves. Combined, these habitats create the Cougar Mountain Zoo and a plethora of opportunity to explore, learn, and grow!
Other exhibits include the Bronze Collection, the Wildlife Tracks Library, the Wildlife Museum, and various statues dedicated to their namesake animals.
THE WILDLIFE TRACKS LIBRARY is the one-and-only of its kind in the world and is geared towards experience enrichment and engagement through sight and touch. Learn how to observe and identify various wildlife here!
THE BRONZE COLLECTION offers an array of large, bronze animal zoo art and are matriculated throughout the zoo. Its collection includes Alligators, Cranes, Cheetahs, Lions, Tigers, Elf, Elephants, Dinosaurs, and more!
THE WILDLIFE MUSEUM features a unique collection of wildlife and paraphernalia and is comprised of donations from private individuals, public agencies, and other institutions to assist the Museum and Zoo in its efforts to broaden its array of offered educational programs.
Enjoy their holiday fun via the Issaquah Reindeer Festival, which is an event offering excitement and fun for all. It includes holiday-inspired picture opportunities, meandering through the Magic Forest, story time with elves, a magical journey, feed treats to the animals – and more! Their annual toy drive is also dedicated to helping kids in need and they typically offer one free children’s admission for your next visit!
