Seattle’s University Village in the University District

Nestled in the heart of the University District and right across from the University of Washington playfields, University Village has become a hubbub for locals and visitors, and a mecca for your shopping and dining adventures.

University Village

Much of the 24-acre shopping center offered strictly local shops and eateries until the 1990s, when it was sold, and future development plans started. Despite many of its original tenants moving out near-after the sale, some 61% of the U-Village merchants are still local.

It’s located a short 10-minute drive from downtown Seattle and offers a healthy balanced between boutique and national retailers. It also has a variety of locally-owned and national and internationally recognized restaurants and eateries.

This outdoor shopping center offers over 120 stores and restaurants with tons of parking.

It’s become a fixture and go-to for nearby neighborhoods, including Laurelhurst, Ravenna, and Bryant. With local and national stores, it’s a great accumulation of 65+ years of local history. University Village is home to the second-ever Starbucks, which opened in 1972.
