Formerly known as Mercer Island Lid and First Hill Lid, Aubrey Davis Park is a park lid covering 2,800 of Interstate 90 between West Mercer Way and 76th Avenue Southeast here on beautiful Mercer Island.
Though it’s now named after a former Mercer Island mayor, Aubrey David, it wasn’t renamed in his honor until after his death in 2013.
The park straddles the I-90 lid on Mercer Island and was designed approximately 25 years ago. It’s largely remained the same ever since, but a massive overhaul is currently (2019) in the works. The master planning process is underway, but there are many ideas coming forward for the 90+ acre spread. More information on the Mercer Island website.
In modern times, Aubrey David Park is a great destination for the entire family. It offers two softball fields, four tennis courts, two playground areas, two outdoor basketball courts and plenty of open, grassy spaces.
Enjoy the picnic shelter and rent it out for larger get-togethers. Summer’s coming up and slots fill up quickly, so don’t hesitate!
Throughout the 2.8 miles stretch, several miles of trails run east-west around the I-90 and the Lid park. This map covers current trails and park surrounding this area.
