This weekend, join the community to celebrate local food and sustainable living. Chomp! will take place Saturday, August 17th at Marymoor Park and will be a day full of local eats, live music, green living workshops and activities for the whole family.
To support the Local Food Initiative of King County, Chomp! features local farms and farmers, and locally sourced food. The Local Food Initiative began in 2014 and focuses on building a stronger farm-to-plate pipeline by increasing access to healthy, affordable foods in underserved areas, supporting farmers and protecting farmlands, and connecting local farms to consumers. You can learn more about the Local Food Initiative online today.
Chomp! will feature a wide variety of activities for you and your family. Dandelion Fuzzies Mini Farm and Woodland Park Zoo Mobile Zoo is excited for you to meet their wonderful wonderful animals and learn how they have been an important part of farming in the local area. The Chomp! Farmers Market is where you can buy the best local produce and meet the farmers themselves. Farmers Market vendors include Carnations Farms, Cedar Circle, Creations, First Light Farms, Wild Canary Farm and more! For the first year at Chomp!, you are invited to participate in Jammy Jam Jam Jamboree. Bring your best jam to compete with individuals from across King County. Jams will be judged by the following criteria: taste, texture and appearance. The Fix-It Fair aims to reduce textile waste. Bring your clean clothes for donation. Simple textile fixes will also be offered on a first come first serve basis.
Don’t miss these activities and more tomorrow at Chomp! The event will be open to the public with free admission from 10am-6pm. Event parking at Marymoor Park will cost $5. For more information, please visit the FAQ page online today.
