The Genesee Park and Playfields stretches from the Stan Sayres Memorial Park along Lake Washington Boulevard and South Snoqualmie/Alaska Street to the south. South Genesee Street splits the park near the center.
Genesee Park and Playfields
There are two main sections to Genesee Park: the open space, which stretches from Genesee Street and Lake Washington Boulevard, and the playfields to the south of Genesee Street.
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the park is an ideal place to hang out, exercise, and bring your pup! Word to the wise, however, the park and nearby area gets congested during Seafair Weekend, as Stan Sayres Memorial Park is a hotbed of activity and perfect viewing spots!
It’s a great place for picnicking!
There are two main parking lots, both accessible via Genesee Street. Though not area specific, one is located at the playfields and the other (to then north) near the grassy meadows and open space. Street parking is also available.
The two main soccer fields are often used for soccer games and practice; but they’re perfect for any field sport. Grab a bunch of friends and host a pickup game, then picnic with your pals for lunch before finishing your game!
The only thing I’d mention is that these fields are popular! They’re often in-use on weekends and during peak season.
Genesee Park’s Genesee Dog Park
This 2.5-acre park is entirely fenced, and the entrance is secured by double gates. Though the outside fencing is grassy, the interior two acres is gravel, which makes doggie playtime during the rainy season (which is much of Seattle) and breeze! Dogs will also enjoy the doggie drinking fountain after a long, hard day at the park!
Additionally, there are play areas and perennial gardens. Have you visited the Genesee Park & Playfields? Let us know your experience in the comments below!
